Robin Walker Worcester's Conservative candidate did not attend the Conservative spring conference as he wanted to spend more the time campaigning on the doorsteps of Worcester, however he welcomed David Cameron's rousing speech and echoed his words that it is the patriotic duty of all Conservatives to win this election.
Robin said
"David is right to say it is our duty to the country to win. We need to save this country from another five years of Gordon Brown. We have seen how much damage he can do to pensions and the economy over the last thirteen years and polls today showing a narrowing gap suggest we could face the nightmare scenario of him and his party getting another term."
"It is not the newspaper polls that will decide the election however. It is the voters in places like Worcester. That is why I am determined to keep up our active doorstep campaign, keep churning out the leaflets and campaigning as hard as I can locally. This weekend we had more volunteers than ever out knocking on doors and we must keep up the momentum."
"It is ironic that now after years of defending the first past the post system when it suited them, Labour have now begun talking about electoral reform. If we do not win this time, they will move to goalposts to try to make sure we cannot win again. We must not give them that opportunity. Conservatives must deliver for Worcester and deliver for our country. This is an election that we must win for the sake of both."
"As a key marginal, Worcester has huge power to help decide the next election. Voters must make the most of that power and vote for change, not let Labour take them for granted." |
