Robin Walker, MP for Worcester, made his maiden parliamentary speech on Tuesday, 8th June.
Speaking in the debate on Economic Affairs and Work and Pensions, Robin thanked the people of Worcester for electing him as their representative.
"I am conscious that I shall be forever in their debt. I intend to repay that debt by working tirelessly on their behalf and being Worcester's man in Westminster."
Robin said that he is "ready to make constructive criticisms" of the Government "and to place my constituency at the forefront of my parliamentary career."
He mentioned his lifelong love for Worcester, its character and its history as well as his support for the Worcester Warriors and the County cricket side with the most beautiful ground in the country.
As well as bringing attention to Worcester's illustrious history, Robin highlighted its present strength as a centre for modern technological innovation, for instance as the headquarters for Worcester Bosch, a manufacturer of cutting edge green technology.
To show his support, he has already signed up to EDM 143, which encourages the Government to stick to plans to introduce the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) in 2011. The financial assistance offered by this initiative to the development of renewable in heating will aid Worcester Bosch in pushing ahead with further developments to its renewable heat technology and the creation of more jobs in the area.
