Oasis Academy Warndon has received plaudits from local MP Robin Walker following the announcement that the school was rated ‘outstanding’ following an inspection by Ofsted in November last year.
Every aspect of the school was graded outstanding, including the leadership and management, the behaviour of pupils and the overall quality of education which is a significant improvement from its previous inspection when it was awarded a 'good' rating.
Robin said:
"When I visited the school in December last year, and again last week, I saw a school that is imbedded in its local community, with its work going well beyond the school gates. The Oasis Warndon Hub was highlighted as a great resource for families, advising on healthy eating and financial management. The report quite rightly recognises that education is 'tailored to local need and successfully designed to match the needs of pupils, including those with very low starting points.' In addition to this, the creative curriculum contributes to an outstanding learning environment where students are engaged in class and excited to learn.
"Safeguarding was recognised as effective, and SEND education is noted as being delivered well, even in the face of the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic. The Principal Suzanne has demonstrated great leadership in developing an outstanding environment for students to learn and grow and I would like to extend my congratulations to all the teachers who have worked hard to help deliver this.
"As a former minister for school standards I am always pleased to celebrate success, but it is particularly exciting to see how the Oasis team have delivered improvement in Warndon. I am looking forward to supporting their work as they open Worcester's first new secondary school in a generation."
Principal Suzanne Owen said: “We are delighted to receive this report from Ofsted which confirms what our community already knows – this is a school that is passionate about every child being given the opportunity to learn and flourish.”
She added: “We are only able to provide our pupils a teaching and learning environment like this because of the continual hard work and dedication of our staff and volunteers both in the Academy and Community Hub, and the support and encouragement of our parents and pupils. We are very grateful to them all.”
