Earlier this month, the Telegraph newspaper named Worcester as one of the top cities in the UK to live in, according to research conducted by both it and the estate agents, Savills.
Reasons cited by the researchers included the high standard of living offered by the city, as well as close employment opportunities for aspiring young residents. Lower housing prices than neighbouring Birmingham or the capital were also given as reasons for the high ranking.
Writing in the article, the researchers highlighted "Worcester is also on the edge of arguably some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain. It is a short drive to the south and up into the hillside market town of Malvern and the Malvern Hills."
The fantastic schools of Worcester were also celebrated, all of which Robin has visited in his role as local MP, Minister for Schools, or as Chair of the Education Select Committee.
Commenting on the recognition, Robin Walker MP said "I am incredibly proud of Worcester, and I am delighted to see that it's unique attractions and history have been recognised in the national press. Over the last 13 years as Worcester's MP, I have worked hard hard alongside local councillors to make our city more prosperous and to get a better quality of life for my constituents. This national survey seems to suggest that this has made a positive difference."
"Worcester punches above its weight and I believe we are smallest English city to make the top ten."
